Georgetown Honeybee Company

Potions, gratifications, and wisdom from the hive

The company was started in 2011 following the robust interest in our sister non-profit, DC Honeybees, which has installed over 100 hives in the last year and mentored countless new beekeepers who are keeping bees on rooftops,in back yards, embassies, schools, urban farms, and community gardens.

We have three operating goals at the Georgetown Honeybee Company:

  1. Create as many new and enthusiastic beekeepers as possible in unorthodox yet fertile locations, especially in the urban and suburban environments through introduction, training, and mentoring;

  1. Promote the importance of the honeybee by introducing a wider audience to the products that come from the hive;

  1. Educate folks of all ages and walks of like about the global importance of the honeybee to the food supply and and overall agricultural sustainability.

Our reach is extended beyond the metropolitan Washington, DC area and now includes the New York City metropolitan area including Fairfield County, Connecticut and Westchester County, New York, and the Boston area.

A portion of our revenue stream returns to our non-profit to propagate more bee colonies in urban areas.
